INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE CALL REPLAYS

These calls are presentations we have chosen as some of the best presentations we have had over the past 8 years. Some of these calls you have asked to be replayed. Others many never had the opportunity to hear. Please note that we will not be adding all presentations now to this web page. This is just a select group.

We are certain these presentations will help both the professionals involved in the world of alienation as well as the alienated family members themselves. These presentations give much education regarding alienation in many different facets. They also will give much support as well.

Please also note the cost of the playback is for a 1 time replay. To hear the specific call that you register for. While listening to these calls, you may pause as you take notes, rewind or fast forward so as not to miss anything that is important to you.

OUR INTERNATIONAL MONTHLY SEMINARS ARE NOW VIRTUAL AND VISUAL VIA WEB EX

As we always have participants sign in early to these presentations (some sign on as much as an hour before the presentation), I was wondering what to have for them during this time. In the past, we always had music prior to the call. Some have reached out to me wanting to promote their businesses, organizations, new books, etc. With our Web Ex, we can allow those that want to do a 2-3 minute video and make certain it is in relation to alienation if only to show your support for our work against alienation in the video.

If you prefer to do a flyer, that would be great as well and of course include something in relation to alienation. That would show for 2 minutes at a time during the flow of promotions.

This would be a 1 year contract for you in which this would be promoted during the first 30-45 minutes prior to our seminar. We have 18-20 seminar presentations a year and would be shown on each one. Of course with this time limit, we will be limited on the number we can have. It will of course be first come, first served. And as always all registrations are subject to approval.

We live in an era of widespread misinformation -- in professional journals, formal presentations, and every form of media. Since the 1980s, misinformation regarding parental alienation theory has been published repeatedly in peer-reviewed journals intended for mental health and legal practitioners. This presentation explains new research regarding a specific example of misinformation, i.e., variations of the statement: Parental alienation theory assumes that the preferred parent has caused parental alienation in the child simply because the child refuses to have a relationship with the rejected parent, without identifying or proving alienating behaviors by the preferred parent. In fact, no proponent of parental alienation has made that assumption in the entire world literature regarding this topic. Versions of that false statement have been made in journals, books, and presentations at least 35 times between 1994 and 2021. This presentation describes this trail of recurrent misinformation, which is not trivial; it is a major misrepresentation of the basic tenets of parental alienation theory. The presentation concludes with action items, including the proposal that these false statements should be corrected and/or the journal articles should be withdrawn from publication.

William Bernet, M.D., is a professor emeritus at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. As a forensic psychiatrist, he testified about 300 times in 24 states. Dr. Bernet wrote the book, Parental Alienation, DSM-5, and ICD-11.  He and his colleagues edited Parental Alienation: The Handbook for Mental Health and Legal Professionals. He and Dr. Demosthenes Lorandos published Parental Alienation — Science and Law in 2020. Dr. Bernet was the founder and first president of the Parental Alienation Study Group.

"Conflict Resolution: A Core Competency for Coping with Alienation"

On Sunday, March 21, 2021 from 8-9 PM EDT, Dr. Susan Heitler will be our guest speaker. We are averaging over 1, 100 participants now which includes 40 countries now. We are looking forward to our presentations being virtual and visual via Web Ex. The initial presentation is of no charge to you. This is a ministry of Family Access-Fighting for Children's Rights. You still will need to email familyaccessinnc@aol.com to register.

In her 45 years of treating with anxiety, depression, anger, rage, and other types of emotional distress, clinical psychologist Dr. Susan Heitler has consistently found that conflicts lie at the core of these and other emotional states. Whether we refer these as bumps in the road, issues, problems, upsets, dilemmas, decisions, fights, or injustices, all of these circumstances can be regarded as conflicts. Whenever you have something you want that you are not getting, or something that you don't want that you are getting, that is a life conflict.

Ordinarily, psychotherapists attempt to provide people in conflict with insights, approaches, and techniques to better manage their conflicts. One of the most promising of those approaches is collaborative conflict resolution. In simple terms, that is a semi-structured approach to manage conflict through dialog, understanding, compromise, and other methods. Unfortunately, however, alienators—especially determined alienators—will usually not agree to participate in collaborative conflict resolution. For one thing, such a collaboration is not consistent with their true goals. For another thing, they may lack the psychological and emotional capacity to do so. For a third thing, if they agree to participate, they tend to undermine and sabotage the process.

By contrast, such skills can prove invaluable to targeted parents and grandparents who must not only deal with one or more alienators, but must also interact with other family members, attorneys, teachers, therapists, parenting coordinators, custody evaluators, guardians ad litem, courts, and others—as well as the alienated children themselves who, except in mild cases, are often disruptive and seldom shy about it.

This presentation is designed to provide practical skills to parents, grandparents, and others who must deal with parental and grandparental alienation. In addition, it is designed to provide some practical techniques for harnessing your inner resources in order to resolve conflicts in a “win win” way while strengthening your ability to handle life's challenges with enhanced confidence and a sense of well-being.

Specific Topics and Questions

1. What are some examples of situations in which collaborative conflict resolution can be helpful—or even lead to a “win win” situation?
2. What are the three steps of conflict resolution?
3. How are conflict resolution and problem-solving similar? How are they different?
4. What are the most important communication skills for collaborative conflict resolution?

5. What are the most important anger management and impulse control skills to keep conflict resolution on track?
6. What are the most common mistakes people make when participating in semi-structured conflict resolution?

Susan Heitler, PhD, is a clinical psychologist. Formerly of Denver, she currently lives in Israel. She has written over a dozen blogposts for psychologytoday.com to educate the general public and psychotherapy professionals about alienation.  For a list of these articles, scroll down in the alienation section of her therapyhelp.com website.

In her clinical work, her blogposts on psychologytoday.com (which have attracted over 23 million reads), and her books, Dr. Heitler focuses in particular on how people deal with the conflicts in their lives.

Her book From Conflict to Resolution was the first to bring understandings of the art of win-win conflict resolution into the general psychotherapy literature. In addition, she has written a useful workbook for the general public entitled The Power of Two. Related to the workbook, her website features a module called PowerOfTwoMarriage.com that teaches collaborative communication, anger management, and conflict resolution—skills that sustain both personal well-being and positive family relationships.

MISSION  STATEMENT

Our main concern is the children and grandchildren and then the complete family.  Sadly the children and grandchildren who are alienated from family are being treated as pawns and property. They are neither. They are human beings. They should not be regarded as such by their parents or any other family member.  We contend that it should be illegal to use children as pawns or instruments of spiteful behaviour in an effort to prevent them from interaction with ALL other family members.  Our purpose and goal is to ensure the preservation of extended, traditional family relationships. In the process of this hell on earth called alienation, we need all the knowledge, support and resources we can get to help our children and grandchildren and then ourselves. This website, along with our international seminar calls with the leading experts in the world regarding alienation as presenters will be major tools and assets for all involved. Professionals who deal with alienation in helping families will glean much from this website and our international seminar calls as well. To contact us, please email familyaccessinnc@aol.com.

GOALS

  • We will work in bringing awareness, education, and support  to people on the subject of alienation and the effects it has on both the children, grandchildren and their families. Alienation is abuse! We will have many of our top experts and professionals regarding alienation in the world sharing information on their own pages here to help you learn more on alienation and other topics regarding alienation. We are also expanding our web site with much more information including locations of support groups in your area, professionals in your area who do have knowledge of alienation as well as blogs by experts and testimonies from alienated family members and also books that can help you on this subject of alienation.
  • To offer international seminar calls with guest speakers who have expertise in the subject matter for that call in giving support and knowledge to alienated family members and professionals who work in the field of alienation. Parental alienation and grandparent alienation and all other family members is hell on earth as too it is for the children and grandchildren dealing with this. These calls are a tremendous help to those going through this and those who work with those who are. There is no charge to any of our initial calls as this is a ministry to help those in need and also help professionals in dealing with this. Please join us.

HISTORY

In April 2012, Family Access- Fighting for Children's Rights was founded by Elaine Cobb who is also president. Elaine herself is alienated from her granddaughter Dare who she has never seen and is now 9 years old and her adult son Bryan who she has not been a part of his family's lives since December 26, 2010. Her granddaughter Dare is alienated from her whole side of her daddy's family. This is why she determined to try in helping make a difference in this abuse called alienation being caused to the children, grandchildren and family members.

In the beginning, her goal was to help those in the state of North Carolina where the founder  and president, Elaine Cobb resides. In just a short time, Elaine realized that alienation was a huge epidemic which was indeed all over our world. She realized at that time she wanted to do all that she could to help those suffering through this hell on earth. This is her ministry. Elaine understands the pain and wants much to help in any way possible to help these children and grandchildren have access to all of their family.

She started the international seminar calls nationwide. In less than a year, she took the calls on an international level. Now Family Access- Fighting for Children's Rights helps in supporting 40 countries in educating as many alienated family members and professionals in regards to alienation through our international seminar calls.

Elaine also knew one of the biggest ways to defeat alienation is to bring more awareness and education to those who know nothing or very little about alienation. The website familyaccessfightingforchildrensrights.org was designed with that in mind as well as giving information to alienated family members to help them know all they can to get through this and one day hopefully be able to see their alienated loved ones. We also provide much support to these families in giving them these tools to better educate. It is also here to help professionals i.e.., attorneys, mental health professionals, judges, legislators, school officials, researchers, writers, child advocates, etc. There is much to learn and we hope to give all as much as we can to help.
